With a brandnew delivered BlackIce II going through the wiki..
From wiki "The usb ports of the blackice ii board" in analogy to the descriptions for USB 2 (adapted for MacOs) after checking which interface by
sudo sudo stty -f /dev/cu.wchusbserial3a20 raw cs8 115200
sudo cat /dev/cu.wchusbserial3a20
If you now press the reset button on the board, you'll see
<Iceboot ... message.
Problem: I'm receiving garbage like
instead of the expected
<iceboot 0.4> message
Also at the end of this wiki article it says
Important: Earlier versions of the
iceboot firmware made it possible to do the volatile bitstream load through USB2. There are still quite a bit of
references to this on the web, and even source code of iceboot 4.0 (under ./firmware/iceboot) mention this as an option. This capability has been defeatured and
doesn't work! The only way to load a bitstream into the FPGA is through USB1!
So - finally - how do I understand the chapter USB2 ? It seemes missleading to me.
As a BlackIce beginner I'm missing some explanations what USB2 is usefull at all
